Candida Farm

Rete Welcome Locride

The Candida Farm was founded in the 17th century by Antonino Candida, who acquired the estate and built the country house, Casina Carbone, a historic residence that currently serves as the focal point of the business.

Today, the company extends over more than 40 hectares on a plateau about 30 meters above sea level, on the road that connects Locri to Gerace, just 2.5 km from the sea.

With the aim of spreading and enhancing the history, culture, and traditions of the area, the Candida Company has focused on the valorization of traditional crops of the Locride region such as olive trees, citrus fruits, and almonds, developing since the 1980s a fully organic cultivation, and on the restructuring of the historic village, converting it into a welcoming agritourism.

Farmhouse Borgo Carbone

Borgo Carbone is an ancient rural village consisting of a manor house, Casina Carbone: a fortified farmhouse from the 17th century classified as a historic residence under the constraint of fine arts; around Casina Carbone, there are some recently restored stone farmhouses and company buildings used for accommodation; within the village, there is also a small patronal church, also made of stone. Located on a plateau, surrounded by over 30 hectares of olive groves and citrus orchards, at about 30 meters above sea level, it offers extensive views of the Jasmine Coast, Gerace, and Locri. Just 2.5 km from the sea, 1 km from Locri, and 7 km from Gerace, it is the ideal place to visit the ancient Greek colony of Locri Epizefiri, the medieval Gerace, the Roman mosaics of the villa of Casignana, Silo with the Cattolica, the wild Aspromonte with its National Park, and the magnificent beaches of the Jasmine Coast. All the houses, despite being within a village, have their patio or front garden, and most of the village is a pedestrian zone.
