The pomegranate, or the fruit of the pomegranate (literally: "apple with seeds"), originates from the Caucasus and the Mediterranean area but can also be found in Asia (from Iran to northern India in the Himalayas). A fruit with a high symbolic content due to the bright red seeds contained in a thick and rigid husk, it has been part of Jewish, Babylonian, Greek, Arab, and Christian cultures. The plant can develop in arid areas and has the characteristic of lasting many years. Traces of its cultivation have even been found in the hanging gardens of Babylon! Not only that, do you know the beautiful Alhambra? Well, the city that hosts it, Granada, symbolizes the dominance of the Moors in the 800s – and it was they who brought the exquisite fruit, a symbol of prosperity and immortality, to Spain and named the beautiful flower-filled city in its honor.
